There are many QuickBooks keyboard shortcuts that are available to QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise users to help speed up performing common tasks. The objective of this blog post is to point out keyboard shortcuts that may be useful to use with Transaction Pro Importer for QuickBooks (“TPI”).
F2 Function Key – Product Information Screen
A screen shot of the company information screen is below. Items which may be helpful to TPI users especially when troubleshooting with our technical support staff include:
- QuickBooks Version, Year and Release
- Size of the QuickBooks company file
- Number of list items (eg customer, vendors etc.)
Ctrl-F – Opens up Find Window
This opens the find window for the list or transaction type you are working with. So if you are importing invoices if you have an invoice window open just press Ctrl-F. This can be helpful when needing to review recently imported lists or transactions. If you select the Advanced button you will be able access the advanced search features in QuickBooks.
Ctrl-Q – Quick Report Window
Opens up a Quick Report for the list item (eg customer, account etc.) that you have selected. Let’s say you have imported some sales receipts and wish to see all the transactions that posted to the account, Undeposited Funds. Go to the chart of accounts in QuickBooks select the account and then press Ctrl-Q.
Alt-P – Go to the Previous Transaction
This can be helpful when you want to easily cycle through all the recent transactions imported. If you imported a batch of invoices open up an invoice form and then press Alt-P to open up each of the transactions one by one in sequence.
Ctrl-D – Delete a Transaction or List
Often times when I am setting up a new import I will import a few transactions and then review them in QuickBooks to make sure I have created the proper mapping and all the data that I need exists in my import file. So if I want to delete these test transactions I just open them up in QuickNooks and press Ctrl-D to delete them.
